welcome to Midsummer
Welcome to the wilds of Faerie, where deception and intrigue wind through the courts of the fae. Revels overflow with excess, beauty, and betrayal, while the students of the Iris Academy learn to take their place in a world where nothing is ever as it seems. Now, as a blue moon rises, the reigning High Court prepares to make peace with the Undersea, but peace is not something that rises easily from the ashes. Beware wandering into a faerie circle, mortals, and never strike a bargain with the fae; they may not be able to lie, but they are always hiding something.

Site Lore
The Faewild is comprised of four Cardinal Courts, plus the ruling High Court and the Undersea. The Seelie Courts, North and South, are slightly more traditional and straightforward (as much as the fae ever are), which their Unseelie counterparts to the East and West are duplicitous and wild.
Farthest south, beneath the waves, lies the Undersea, home to the pearl-encrusted Sunken City. The Undersea fae are a proud people—perhaps too much so, according to some of their counterparts on dry land. All of the Faewild is ruled by the High Court, whose power is personified in the High King and Queen. By wearing this crown, they take on the spirit of the Faewild; their hearts beat with the heart of the land. Beware, and choose your words carefully: the fae are a capricious and tricky people, as fickle as they are cunning, and their rulers are the most of all.

[attr="class","box1a"] The girls weren't the most exciting part of a party for Luca, but they certainly didn't hurt. He was surveying the room, wrapping one of his shirtlaces around his finger, tightening the deep V of the neckline to halfheartedly cover the mark blooming on his collarbone. It wasn't that it was motivated by any kind of shame, but people liked to believe they were special. That he was all theirs. And, well, a prince belonged to the people in the end. It felt like too much stillness, to watch the dancing. He wanted to be out there, spinning until every thought in his head mixed and liquefied and turned golden and glassy. How else was he meant to know he was having a good time? Speaking of a good time, there was no fun in having one alone. And one of the girls standing near him looked like a good counterpart—as aureate and sunny as Luca himself, sunkissed all over. Well, he couldn't be outdone by the sun. He'd have to match it kiss for kiss. And if, for some reason, his honeyed tongue wasn't to her taste, then they could dance. As long as he didn't have to slow down, Luca didn't particularly care. As he made his way to her, Luca spotted something in his periphery, something filmy and white. For a moment, he thought it was that North Court girl he'd been eyeing, or an effect of the gold powder staining his tongue, but no—when he gave it a proper look, it was a veiled figure, drifting between the revelers. He hesitated, wondering if it was worth making himself look as if he'd gone mad. Ah, well, everyone here was on something. To the sunkissed girl, he said, "Can you see that?" with a nod to the ghostly figure. It sounded like the beginning of a pick-up line. It still could be. Sutton was pretty content being on her own. Then again her sisters always ditched her and she was left to her own devices. She had a bright smile on her face as she was enjoying her time. She was roaming around and then stopped to look at something that caught her eye. She couldn't help but looking in a daze as her mind was beginning to roam. She was lost in thought, there was so much expected from her and she knew that she was going to be used for something. It was expected from the girls in the family. She hadn't really been eyeing anyone in particular. The guys were cute but no one really caught her attention. Didn't mean if some cute guy talked to her that she wouldn't be stumbling on her words. Her attention drifted as she heard a voice talking to her. The good looking guy seemed to be looking in a particular direction and asked her if she saw what he saw. She looked over at him and shook her head. "No, I don't see anything. Am I supposed to?" she asked, maybe she was missing something. Luca Oleander,

[attr="class","box1a"]Good thing he'd already been thinking of another way to finish the question. "Shame," Luca said, sincerely hoping that he wasn't going mad. "I believe it's your reflection, though I mistook it for the specter of some radiant queen. Forgive me." It was rather alarming how easily he could summon a smile, allowing his eyes to glaze and glimmer under the lights. Still, he could see the figure in the crowd, and he had to wonder if he ought to be worried. Visions weren't an effect he'd experienced before, and he'd rather it stay that way. Perhaps talking to this girl would allow him to distract himself until it faded. Sutton looked around and then nodded, it had to be her reflection or even a shadow because she didn't see anyone. She didn't think he was crazy because if he saw something then she wanted to believe him. She always wanted to believe in people. "That might be it." "You okay?" she asked as it seemed like he was looking in a distance. She had a concerned look on her face. She didn't want to make him uncomfortable. "Are you enjoying yourself here?" Sutton looked around amongst the crowd. It was busy and she was just in her own world. She lived in her own mind where it was safe and so many people couldn't hurt her in any way. [attr="class","box1a"] At least Luca's confidence could be eased by the fact that the girl didn't seem bothered. That was how things usually went for him. Everything slid off like melting butter as long as he flashed the right smile. It was astonishingly easy to dazzle people out of their wits and blind them with his glow so that they couldn't see any missteps or flaws. All he had to do was reflect. The smile was automatic when he looked back at the girl. "It's a party," he said with a golden laugh. "Of course I'm enjoying myself. My greater concern, my lady, is if you are." He took her hand and pressed a swift, mischievous kiss to the back of it. "Do you have a name? Or shall I call you anything I like?" She could be a daffodil, he thought—yellow rather than gold, pretty but fragile. "parties are fun. I would rather if more people danced but they use these a political gain or figuring out their social status." she stated. Sometimes, she could say the most profound things though she did come off as an idiot or even ignorant. Sutton didn't dwell on politics nor did she care about social status. She cared about her family and pleasing those that meant a lot to her. She wanted to be friends with everyone but not everyone thought she was fun to be around. Rather that she could be a burden. She gave him a sweet smile, "Do you like to dance?" "OH! How rude of me, I'm Sutton." she said. She gave him a bright smile. "I mean if you prefer to call me something else I wouldn't mind." "If I hadn't told you my name, what would you have called me?" she asked. Luca Oleander,

[attr="class","box1a"] Luca flashed a dazzling smile. "There's no fear for that at my parties, my lady. We keep the music at a quick pace and the drinks flowing in currents meant to sweep away all politicking." He had to finesse the sentence to avoid a lie; there was, after all, plenty of political maneuvering at the revels of the South Court just like there was anywhere else, but he could at least say with honesty that they tried to prevent it. "Given that you're in a profound mood, I suspect that you have had too much or not nearly enough of the music and drinks," he commented teasingly. Luca's gift of charm, seemingly involuntary, allowed him to consider practically anyone a friend within moments of conversation. And this being Faerie, most of these friends were lovely enough to bring back to his bed if the mood struck. His eyes sparkled at the mention of dancing. Whirling energy and the press of bodies and no time to think. Exactly what he liked. "My lady, I love dancing," he replied. He began to draw her towards the floor. "If you're amiable to it, that is the only invitation I need, in fact."Surely she was aware of how she played into his flirtation. The dance was a rapid one, involving lifts later in the course. A laugh bubbled onto Luca's lips as they spun. "A daffodil perhaps," he replied, half-incoherent in the way he most enjoyed being. "Or the empty sweetnesses lovers whisper. My nectar and ambrosia. Spring of my heart. Honeycomb. All a bit too long, don't you think?"[newclass=.box1a]margin:0px auto; width:300px; height:425px; background: transparent; overflow:auto; padding:8px;[/newclass] [newclass=.box1a::-webkit-scrollbar]width:5px;[/newclass] [newclass=.box1a::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background: #e8a72a;[/newclass] |

`Now Sutton could be considered naive or just plain dumb but when it came to the art of flirting....she sucked at it. She generally thought everyone was being nice to her. She smiled nicely as he mentioned that she had nothing to fear which was a bit reassuring. "I appreciate that." she said, her smile so bright that the sun or moon could reflect off of it. The weird thing is Sutton was always so genuine and so kind to others. Someone could be horribly mean to her and she would just hug them and chalk up that they are having a tough day. She didn't understand him when he was just teasing, "I didn't drink that much. Do I need to drink more?" "You like to dance?" she asked, it was more excitable then she intended. She followed him onto the dance floor. Her feet lightly floating, since this was her forte. "What kind of dancing do you do?" "Surprised you didn't go with sunflower or daisy." she said then she was caught by surprised when he said something about lovers. Her cheeks turning a bright pink hue. "oh..." She had to look away from him because she felt so embarrassed. How was she supposed to react. She didn't know how to feel about it. "l-lovers?" Luca Oleander,

[attr="class","box1a"]Luca was in hot pursuit of one of his favorite hobbies—that being, generally having a good time. He was incandescent under the swirling lights with a radiance that the drinks and his burnished gold curls couldn't quite account for. He was dancing with a wide-eyed, pretty girl; his tongue was sweet and his throat refreshed with honeyed liquor; and his skin glittered like a shattered mirror. The night was a dazzling hive of possibility, and Luca felt alive with it. Sutton's smile was another light in the haze, and he let himself get swept up in its glitter. This wasn't love at first sight, but Luca didn't do forevers. He did pretty days and dazzling nights and then started over easy. Just so long as he didn't stop dancing, everything was wonderful. "You only need to drink more if it will ease your descent into the fun, my lady," he replied with a blinding flashbang of a grin. "But if you're satisfied, then as your host, I am as well. It's my chief aim to keep my guests satisfied, you see." The glitter in his eyes could have been blamed on the lights or the drink or a figment of the imagination, but it was more than that. Her question about dancing gave him exactly the opportunity he'd been looking for. He cupped her waist and echoed her light steps. "This kind," he said, his voice momentarily low, speaking close to her ear. Then they were swept, joint, into the current as the party sprung and swirled to life, drowning out all but the momentary chance for conversation. Her blush was so lovely in this light. Then again, Faerie was overflowing with beauty, even in the wild grotesque, and Luca never tired of it. There were few fae he wouldn't have taken to a secluded corner as long as they could keep up a conversation, or even just a smile. "If you like," he said frankly, drawing her slightly closer so that he could speak more quietly. He held her against his chest as the song spun towards its clothes. "But only if you like. I would wish for you to enjoy yourself, of course." "I've heard these could have disastrous effects." she said, at least that was what her sisters would tell her. She looked at Luca, he didn't seem like he would lie to her. "I mean I trust you, if you think this will be fun then it must be." She smiled sweetly and took a sip of the drink. It tasted sweet and she kind of liked it, so she took another taste. He answered her question by showing her what he wanted to do and she couldn't help but giggle and follow his lead. She leaned close as he talked, he was just so hypnotizing and all she could do was nod, "I would like to see you happy just as I am." Luca Oleander,
