history
Childhood | Teenage Years | Adulthood |
Marcellus was the second-born of the Queen of the Undersea, tragically a boy. The boys in the undersea family were always relegated to the position of scholars or generals, never considered contenders for the throne. Some of them took this poorly, but to Marcellus it was an odd sort of freedom. He was allowed to take his father's last name, and know who he was, something the girls never were. He was also allowed to study whatever piqued his interest, and he found himself turning again and again to architecture-- the different ways buildings expressed culture. He carried this interest with him even as a child, always trying to build different castles and run off to explore. | As he grew older, he became more protective of his younger siblings. He was provided with private tutors instead of attending the undersea's academy, which focused more on warcraft. Even though he wasn't a recognized heir and never would be, he still had some power, and he tried to use that to protect his siblings. Whoever he chose to marry would probably be for political gain, so he never bothered much with romance. In all honesty, communicating with others proved too difficult for him most of the time, and it was easier for him to spend all his time in the libraries, studying his current interests. The undersea was brutal to everyone and he didn't escape this unscathed, but his concern was usually for his younger siblings more than himself. His knowledge of architecture and building methods grew as he grew older. | Now, with the treaty recently signed and the ink drying, he has come to the land to have an apprenticeship with the design of the high court's palace. The turmoil with heirs is of some curiosity to him-- the more Undersea idea of the murderer's right is truly coming into play here. He came here with the party of Undersea students but does not attend the Iris academy and finds himself as distant from his siblings as ever. He is somewhat concerned for Jin-Hwa, alone in a strange land, but she has always seemed reserved and disinterested in him. He is trying not to take that personally. |

Hai flopped onto her brother’s bed, looking over at him. Kaito sat at his desk, in between rounds of one of his new games; she couldn’t remember what this one was called. He was pretty absorbed in leveling up one of his newer characters, one she didn’t know the name of. It wasn’t like she didn’t care about what her brother was interested in, he just went through games too quickly for her to keep track of any of them. The only exception were his favorites.
Ren was sitting in his own chair beside Kaito’s, watching their older brother. Ren seemed less confused about what was going on than Hai was. He’s probably watched Kaito play this way more than I have.
“What are you playing?” Hai asked Kaito, rolling onto her back. Kaito and Ren now looked like they were hanging from the ceiling, which was pretty funny.
“That new fantasy RPG that came out last week,” Kaito replied absently, eyes still locked on the game. “How was your day?”
“Pretty good, I-”
She was interrupted by her phone going off. Someone texted her? But the only people she texted were Ren and Kaito, and they were both in the same room as her. Though, this wouldn’t be a first for Kaito…
Alexander Sato (Tutoring), the contact read.
Oh, right. He got her number to stay in touch with her while he was tutoring her.
She didn’t even get a chance to read what he said before Kaito was right beside her, trying to see what the text said. Sevens, he was so nosy. But she let him see it, angling the phone so they could both read it.
Good job today. That formula is pretty difficult, and you did well. Same time next week?
“Who’s-...”
He went quiet upon reading the contact name. She sat up so she was sitting cross-legged beside Kaito. Ren peeked back from where he was playing Kaito’s game for him. “What is it?”
He looked up from the screen, meeting her eyes with a furrow in his brow and a slight scowl on his face. “Alexander? Really?”
Her face fell. Why was he disappointed? “What’s wrong with him?”
He pinched the bridge of his nose. “He’s not someone you need to be friends with. Or more than friends. Or anything.”
Scowling, she crossed her arms. Alexander had never come across as cruel or malicious. Maybe a little grumpy sometimes, but he had never been cruel to her. Kaito was just being over-protective, she reasoned. “That’s not an answer.”
“He’s gonna use you for his own gain! He’s totally a low-level cheater who manipulates others to make up for his lack of firepower!” Kaito’s hair turned red at the tips, signifying that he was getting frustrated with her. “He’s not a good person, Hai! He’ll hurt you.”
“I think you’re being unfair to Alex, Kiki.” Ren said, tilting his head at his siblings.
“Yes- I mean no! I’m just-” Kaito paused, trying to choose the right words, probably. “He’s not someone you should get involved with. Seriously.”
“Who are you to talk about people to not get involved with?” Hai narrowed her eyes at her older brother, her fiery hair turning red at the tips, matching her brother’s. Well, they were both somewhat angry now. “With whatever is going on with that Izumi girl.”
Kaito’s hair flared, more reds and orange than before. The tips of his ears were red. He looked a mix of embarrassed and annoyed. He rarely looked at her like that. He rarely got angry at her. Whatever was going on with Izumi, it was really important to him. But she was too far to stop now. In the back of her mind, she was deeply hurt by how angry he looked at her, but her own rage kept her from acknowledging it.
Hai narrowed her eyes. “I get one– one text from Alex, and you tell me to stop. You two aren’t just texting, Kaito. She’s here all the time. And she has a boyfriend. Are you telling me that really all you’re doing is hanging out?”
Ren nodded sagely. “It’s true. I have been invited to several of Kalim’s parties. I see that they care for each other.”
Kaito turned to Ren. “If you’ve been at ‘several of Kalim’s parties’ then you know. You know what he did. You think what we’re doing is wrong? At least I’m not lying to her.”
Hai was taken aback by the look on his face. And Ren. He looked truly stricken.
“I was under the impression that Izumi knew.” Ren said hesitantly.
“She does know.” Kaito says, sighing. “You think that makes it better?”
Hai suddenly felt far out of her depth. Whatever their bond as siblings was, Ren and Kaito were closer. And whatever happened, she couldn’t make up for the fact that they were roommates and she wasn’t, that they were two halves of a student and she wasn’t, and that Kaito brought Ren back and she wasn’t even freaking there.
Ren looked down. “I’ve seen you two,” he said. “When I come in. You don’t look like that with a lot of people.”
His hair cooled down. Kaito’s face was more serious than she was used to. More serious than she could remember seeing him. “I don’t.”
They all sat there in silence for some time. When Kaito looked up to continue the conversation, Hai was gone.

This is the place to let us know about any special abilities or disabilities your character has that might affect either their time at school/work or their time on site overall. Also, if your character is a prodigy in a certain area, please put the area here and explain the ways that this is necessary to develop their character.
I don't think this site has autism but he does. He also has horns but obviously his faceclaim doesn't.

Learned Skills. If your character has graduated school, then fill out the value for the skill corresponding the school they would have graduated from. (I.E. Herbology for the Herbalist School)
Please put 10 for only two skills, as that is all they would have learned at school unless they were a prodigy as defined above. If you need any clarification on these skills, please consult the site lore.
