welcome to Midsummer
Welcome to the wilds of Faerie, where deception and intrigue wind through the courts of the fae. Revels overflow with excess, beauty, and betrayal, while the students of the Iris Academy learn to take their place in a world where nothing is ever as it seems. Now, as a blue moon rises, the reigning High Court prepares to make peace with the Undersea, but peace is not something that rises easily from the ashes. Beware wandering into a faerie circle, mortals, and never strike a bargain with the fae; they may not be able to lie, but they are always hiding something.
Midsummer is a character-driven, fae folklore, text-based RPG site, founded 3 September 2023 by admins SeaJem + M. Site Lore
The Faewild is comprised of four Cardinal Courts, plus the ruling High Court and the Undersea. The Seelie Courts, North and South, are slightly more traditional and straightforward (as much as the fae ever are), which their Unseelie counterparts to the East and West are duplicitous and wild.
Farthest south, beneath the waves, lies the Undersea, home to the pearl-encrusted Sunken City. The Undersea fae are a proud people—perhaps too much so, according to some of their counterparts on dry land. All of the Faewild is ruled by the High Court, whose power is personified in the High King and Queen. By wearing this crown, they take on the spirit of the Faewild; their hearts beat with the heart of the land. Beware, and choose your words carefully: the fae are a capricious and tricky people, as fickle as they are cunning, and their rulers are the most of all.

The Coronation
Guinivere Marcel's Coronation Approaches, and with it, the apprehension of Faerie rises. Everyone knows this will be a monumental moment-- a mortal High Queen of faerie has never even been thought of before. But no one knows yet if it will end in more bloodshed or peace.
All members are invited, even if they are not nobility. However, nobility will be expected to swear fidelity to the young Queen and her heir, who she has already selected, Gemini Marvel Enigma. What to make of the poisoner's prince coming into his name more fully is yet to be seen.
The coronation hall is surprisingly bare of decorations. Potted flowers are everywhere, all poisonous, but there are whispers that the mortal Queen cannot control the land yet. The blackthorn throne also lacks any flowers-- they have all since shriveled and died. The stained-glass windows have been redone in gold and purple, and the knights standing guard are adorned in black and gold and purple. The room itself is full of faerie in resplendent dress, but the hall is quiet. The people are not nervous, not yet, but they are waiting.

[break][break] Nothing Ever Lasts forever [break]
Everybody wants to rule the world
[break][break]
Guinivere stood facing what was going to become her throne. As of now, it was all thorns, not a flower in sight, The doors were thrown open and the far we’re standing. She looked out at their faces, tricksters and traitors, all preparing to swear loyalty to her, oaths that they couldn’t break. It felt like a dream. [break][break]
The windows had been replaced with purple and gold, royal colors, deadly colors. Her knights were in black and gold armor. No more silver. She didn’t need honor. She needed executioners.
[break][break] In honor of her coronation, pots of wisteria, foxglove, and azaleas, lined the aisle in the center of the hall, leading a poisonous trail to a dais holding an already poisoned throne. Would she be killed like the king before her? Poison ran in her very blood. They would have to get creative. [break][break]
Gemini was there, the true poisoner’s prince, holding her crown. Golden and thin, with amethysts and diamond encircling it. He himself wore a silver circlet. There were whispers in the crowd. No one knew what to make of it.
[break][break] She took a deep breath, a focused breath, and walked. She was neither the innocent bride nor a nervous penitent walking to confess. She was a conqueror. She was claiming her prize. [break][break]
As she walked, flowers followed her, rippling like a tidal wave. Shoots of sundew, dulcamara, rhododendron, lily of the valley, larkspur and hemlock grew up the walls and in between the stones that made up the wall. It reminded her of the cathedrals that the mortals went to. They worshipped their gods there. And now here she was, walking up the aisle of her own cathedral. Was she to be the fae’s new god? [break][break]
The tidal wave of flowers moved faster and faster, turning entirely to Belladonna, overtaking the throne. Or was the throne sprouting them itself? She didn’t know. She felt dizzy. She was a mortal girl. She was meant to be weak. She wasn’t meant to have this sort of power.
[break][break] They’ll never accept you, she had been warned. She wouldn’t be a goddess or a queen. She would always be an usurper. She would be an invader. But she reached the throne, and she turned, and they were still standing, and there was something there that wasn’t quite awe.
[break][break]
“Guinivere Marcel,” cried a herald. “The Belladonna Queen. Rightful claimant of the blackthorn throne, mother of the wilds, breath of the wind, blood of the roots. Lady protector of faerie and most excellent of the gentry. Keeper of the high court and compass of the four seasons. High Queen of Faerie.” [break][break]

The coronation, her family was supposed to attend. Her sister was not a fan of the new monarch but then again she wasn't a fan of anyone that she couldn't manipulate. They needed to show up to make a point but also to show that they are indeed in alliance. Though they are only in alliance with those who can help them into power. One day they hoped to rule high court. Quinn had no ambition in the politics or the power. She wanted to sing and live with the person that she loved. The image of Albert flashed through her mind. Her heart raced and she could feel her cheeks getting warm. She shook her head why was he always on her mind when he just irritated her and seemed to be so indifferent with her. Her brother took her arm and tucked it into his, "thinking of something naughty?" he joked, in a low tone. "N-no...why would I?" she said, her voice was quick and trying to be defiant. "I was just thinking how lovely this ceremony is going to be. She looked over to the whole court, everyone was buzzing with excitement Albert Alder Coult (mentioned)

Just another party but she liked parties. They involve dancing and Sutton loved to dance. She was also a social butterfly so she didn't mind it very much. this gave her the opportunity to reach out and socialize with people. Politically her family could use this to help gain status among the others but Sutton wasn't really good with political conversations nor was she really interested in such things.
this was exciting because someone new was going to be in power. She was eager to meet her new monarch since she was a woman. She was very beautiful and Sutton was happy to meet anyone. She was over by the front doors. She looked around to see if she saw any familiar faces.
