The Undersea was once ruled by many small queens and occasionally kings. Two centuries ago, five sister queens agreed to split the sea evenly into five parts: deep sea, open sea, coral sea, tropic sea, and artic sea. They killed every other smaller king and queen and took these lands for themselves. However, the youngest, Haimana staged a coup and demanded that they all give up their true names to her and surrender their lands. Two of the four agreed, and two refused. The two who agreed were spared in live in the court. Haimana killed one of her sisters, the Queen of the Artic. The fifth sister alone survived, Longwei, Queen of the deep. She shut off her land and her magic, claiming there were some secrets the opens sea could never know.
